PARK PICK POINT PELEE NATIONAL PARK Located at Canada's southernmost edge, Point Pelee national Park is a sheltered enclave of Carolinian forests usually found further south. each spring, the festival of the Birds is a wonderful opportunity to observe warblers and other migrating songbirds; in fall, qui- eter birds such as peregrine falcons pass through. in spring, you can also take a guided wildfl ower walk with a park interpreter, while in summer you can tour lily pad-dotted waters by freighter canoe. Late spring and early fall are the best times to spot migrating monarch butterfl ies. and on certain nights with a new moon, the park stays open until midnight so stargazers can take advan- tage of Point Pelee's status as a Dark Sky Preserve to observe the skies without light pollution (www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn- np/on/pelee/activ.aspx).
