busy with scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, playground time and beach fun. Families love the lake: the canoes, kayaks, paddle- boards and especially the inflatable water park and trampoline. For young or old, activi- ties like fishing, biking and hiking round out the perfect getaway. Summertime means golf getaways, and guests staying at the Sherwood Inn in Muskoka can access three championship courses: Rocky Crest Golf Club, The Lake Joseph Golf Club and the Mark O'Meara Course at Grandview. The year-round inn is well-known as an exclusive wedding venue, popular with couples looking for a romantic and tranquil lakeside setting. There is an on- site day spa perfect for girlfriend or couples getaways. Many of the inn rooms and lakefront cottages have wood-burning fireplaces and some have private whirlpools. SPRING AND FALL ARE NOT TO BE MISSED It's just a 90-minute drive from Toronto to lake life at its best at the Westwind Inn, a family-operated resort tucked into the tall pines of the Canadian Shield at Lower Buckhorn Lake. The all-cedar hotel is decorated with Persian rugs, original artwork, handmade quilts and antique furnishings; each of the 34 rooms has a balcony and fireplace (in winter, the resort's indoor infinity pool can be booked for private use). Water activities include an in-ground pool, canoeing and kayaking, along with badminton and volleyball, and hiking trails are nearby. If there is snow on the ground, snowshoeing and cross- country skiing include equipment. The resort's quiet natural setting is a perfect home base close to shopping, restaurants and a winery. Take a fall road trip to Prince Edward County, a popular autumn escape and home to The Waring House, an historic country inn with accommodations ranging from the classic inn to a modern lodge. Many of the property's 49 rooms are decorated with high-quality antiques from the mid-1800s. There are fireplaces to relax in front of and several rooms have private hot tubs. The inn is known for its Cookery School classes and restaurants serving seasonal farm-to-table. The heritage property is perfectly situated to explore the villages of Picton, Wellington and Bloomfield. Visit local artisan workshops, drive to see the vibrant fall colours, walk the beaches at local parks or stop at one of the many local wineries, craft beer producers, cideries or produce stands. DO WINTER, RESORT-STYLE Embrace winter! Couples Resort—an eco- luxury property on the edge of Algonquin Park—caters to every wintertime outdoor desire. Get outside and enjoy the quiet of a snowy forest with a day of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on quality groomed trails, skating or ice hiking. Or surrender to the pampering of the full-service spa, a menu of gourmet meals or just a simple evening in front of a crackling fire with a bottle of fine wine to toast the season. At Blue Mountain Resort, explore 364 acres of ski terrain, including a terrain park for freestyle skiers. And the Iwa Spa is the perfect setting for a mother-daughter or girlfriend full-service, wellness spa getaway.
